“Share your story; lift the stigma.” That’s what I take home from attending this morning’s event held by hazelden betty ford in fort myers, FL.
The stigma of addiction or substance use disorder is still high and most would say it is frowned upon by the community. If you are ready for help, there is help. If you need encouragement, there are people to support you! But if you continue to allow addiction to control your life, no one can help you! I will be sharing my story and lifting the stigma. It will take a little while to put it all into words, but stay tuned; it’s in the works. I want to be able to help as many people out there that feel alone and feel there is no hope for them! There is hope! I am not an addict. I am a recovering family member of an addict. Give that some thought. Those who know me; know my story and have seen my growth. You can grow too! Stay tuned ❤️ • • • • #addiction #addictionrecovery #substance#substanceabuse #familiesofaddicts #family#recovery #recoveryispossible #counseling #trauma#empowerment #help #youcandoit #stigma#stigmafree #grief #firstname.lastname@example.org
